Global Advantage specializes in data visualization. We are a team of strategic consultants working with you to tackle your key operational and performance challenges. We design and build ecosystem maps to support client investments in organizational growth and efficiency, innovation and commercialization management, and new technology development. The services we offer our clients include ecosystem mapping, economic and innovation analysisperformance management and metrics recommendations and executive presentations.

We also provide research, analysis, strategic advice, and custom software in the areas of:

Executive Members

David Watters, President & CEO

David’s 30 year career in the Government of Canada included Assistant Deputy Ministerial responsibilities in a variety of Economic Ministries including Industry Canada, Treasury Board and Finance Canada.  He was the Assistant Deputy Minister in Finance Canada for Economic Development and Corporate Finance, where he helped to shape Canada’s economic and innovation investments. David then established the Global Advantage Consulting Group Inc. (Ottawa).  Since 2002 the firm has completed over 450 assignments in Canada and abroad, providing advice to corporate, association, university, and government clients – primarily in the areas of R&D, new technology development, innovation, commercialization, economic development and trade.

David holds an Economics degree from Queen’s University as well as a Law degree in corporate, commercial, and tax law from Queen’s Law School.  As an adjunct Professor at the University of Ottawa, School of Management he has taught International Negotiation to MBA students for seven years.

Dawnita Spac, Vice President and COO

Dawnita’s 30+ year career in the federal government included responsibilities as Director in Health Canada, Industry Canada, and at Foreign Affairs and International Trade, Public Works and Government Services, and Treasury Board Secretariat.

As Vice President, Dawnita provides research coordination and analysis for all research and policy projects undertaken. She has established effective processes to break complex issues into manageable components for data gathering, research and analysis. She specializes in stakeholder identification, consultation design and effective interviewing, customer relations, and event management.

Dawnita holds a B.A. from McGill University and the University of Vienna, an Executive MBA from Queen’s University, and an Advanced Facilitation Certification from Windsor University and Harvard University.

Adam Jarvis, Vice President Policy and Research

Adam joined the Global Advantage team as Vice-President Policy and Research in 2015. His mandate is to research and evolve the firm’s vision around data visualization, focusing on new ways to simplify and use data to help clients make informed and insightful decisions. Through this in-depth research and analysis, Adam works to provide policy advice and recommendations. One of his top priorities at Global Advantage is setting a new direction for the digital delivery of our maps that will include mobile options, data visualization enhancements, and new ways to access ever expanding data sets.

Prior to joining Global Advantage, Adam was a professor at Algonquin College, teaching user experience design, multimedia development, and 3D modeling and visualization. Adam is currently pursuing a MEd in education and digital technology at the University of Ontario Institute of Technology. He graduated from Algonquin College with an Interactive Multimedia Developer diploma in 2007 and Carleton University with a BA in Film Studies in 2005.

Sarah Nascimben

Sarah is currently in her 3rd year for Public Affairs and Policy Management and Specialization in Development Studies at Carleton University. Sarah’s future career goal is to conduct research that powers innovative-social policy, and to guide the implementation of the policy.

Jayant Kumar

Jayant is currently taking his Master’s at the University of Ottawa for Electronic Business Technologies. His future career goal is to be a Data Scientist.

Shiyuan Zhang (Sherry)

Sherry is currently taking her Master’s at the University of Ottawa for Electronic Business Technologies. Her future career goal is to work as a business analyst to cover various domains and sectors with different data analysis technologies and gain more communication skills.
