Global Advantage is very proud of the Dancing Data Visualization team, recognized as First Place Winning Project and given an Award of Excellence at Algonquin College’s Applied Research Day taking place at Ottawa’s Innovation Centre, Friday August 18, 2017.
Funded by Algonquin’s Data Analytics Centre and Global Advantage Consulting Group Inc., the Dancing Data Visualization team has built tools to create seamless data animations from data sets, at the click of a button. Animated Graphs tell a story of data over a timeline; Interactive Cluster Maps geographically illustrate data according to longitude and latitude; Interactive Heat Maps show data on a national or international scale. These three different visualization applications are compelling to watch and effective tools for analysis, decision making, or presentations.
Student team members of the Dancing Data Visualization project include Algonquin College students Edmer Buen, Shannon Wilson, Geemakun Storey, Weikai Li; with Algonquin faculty Adesh Shah as the Project Facilitator and Theodore Mirtchev as Project Manager. Global Advantage is the project’s Industry Partner, providing time, support and financial contributions. The Dancing Data Visualization project will experience a change in student team members this September with the beginning of a new semester, however, the project will continue under the same leadership. For the Fall 2017 semester, the team will continue to make the existing animation tools more robust and explore new possibilities, like more graph types and predictive analysis.compelling to watch and effective tools for analysis, decision making, or presentations.
Congratulations! Intriguing data presentation tools. A well deserved award.
