Farewell University of Ottawa Co-op Students

Is it the open concept layout of our office or our hiring practices that facilitate such a great team dynamic? Perhaps it’s the fact that we get to collaboratively work on interesting projects and are happy to come to work.

Whatever the reason, we grow fond of our co-op students here at GA. Although we wish them all the best in their future endeavours, we are always a little sad to see them go.

Our Winter 2019 co-op students were chosen from 182 UOttawa applicants! Sydney Martin, B.Soc.Sc. Environmental Economics and Public Policy, and Michael Swenson, M.A. Public and International Affairs, made it through several HR filters and were, in the end, hired as research analysts because of their enthusiasm for what we do here at GA.

Michael’s favourite part of working at GA was learning new technology and data sources, and then combining the new skills and information to make a finished product (i.e. a map). He will be enjoying sunny beaches in PEI for the summer as he plans the next steps in his career.

Sydney says she enjoyed the opportunity to work on a variety of projects while working at GA. She will use the technical skills and the detail/big picture perspective she learned at GA as she completes her bachelors and plans for her Master’s in Economics at University of British Columbia.
